Daniel Bates is a McClellanville native whose family roots trace back to the original settlers along the Santee River. After graduating from Appalachian State University, he served as a police officer in Rock Hill for 4 years. He then returned home to  McClellanville and began his career in real estate in 2006. Daniel’s love of technology and writing led him to start the first blog about McClellanville, which led him down a side-career as a social media and blogging consultant to other real estate agents across the country. During this brief time, he taught thousands of agents, spoke at
technology conferences, and had a number of nationally published articles. In 2010, he hung up those reins to found MCVL Realty.

Daniel was #1 agent by sales in the McClellanville / Awendaw area in 2012, 2016, and 2018 and remains one of the top 10 agents in all of Charleston Trident  Association of Realtors for sold lots in the last decade. In addition to his Brokers license, he also completed the following training: Certified Negotiation Expert, Seller Representative Specialist, Accredited Buyer’s Representative, and Resort and  Second-Home Property Specialist.

Daniel still loves working with buyers, sellers, landlords, and renters, but is most happy to put his love of marketing, technology, writing, and photography to work every day in his role as Broker-in-Charge of MCVL Realty. He has put his leadership skills to good use in the community by helping to found the Bulls Bay Chamber of Commerce and then serving as its chairman for three terms. He has also served as the Chairman of McClellanville’s Architectural Review Board, President of the Mouzons Bluff Homeowners Association,  McClellanville’s Deputy Town Marshall, and an advisory board member for Land & Sea Market in McClellanville. Daniel is the proud father of three. He is a nature enthusiast, enjoying hiking, biking, camping, and fishing, and most recently dove into kayak fishing (OK, he actually “flipped”). He regularly watches the sunrise on his family dock on the ICW and just finished coaching his first season as a junior varsity basketball coach at CREECS.
